The Devro Great New Zealand Sausage Competition has been seeking out New Zealand's tastiest snarlers since 1996. There are 13 categories in the competition ranging from traditional to gourmet.
Our delightful judges are a combination of butchers, industry experts, food writers and chefs, who spend two days anonymously judging the sausage entries within their categories, this is done in both fresh and cooked form. Our judges assess the sausages based on visual appeal, flavour, texture and composition and award Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. All Gold winners are then eligible for the second day of judging, which determines the Supreme Winner.
To guarantee the validity of the individual sausages, we mystery shop samples. These shopped samples are then judged alongside their corresponding sausage entry so that judges can confirm consumers are able to buying these exact sausages in stores.
